Geography
Chiflik is a village situated at the northern foothills of the Central Balkan Mountains. It lies along the uppermost reaches of the Beli Osam River, in the southwestern part of Troyan Municipality.
Its territory borders the villages of Shipkovo to the north, Rozino and Hristo Danovo to the south, Beli Osam to the east, and Ribaritsa to the west.
Chiflik is located 15 km from the town of Troyan, with which it is connected by a bus service.
The village streets wind along the Beli Osam River, while the houses are built on the few level areas within the mountainous terrain.
In the centre of the village are the mayor's office, the community cultural centre, and the museum and ethnographic house. In 1876, the captured revolutionaries Todor Kableshkov and Nayden Popstoyanov spent the night in this house before being taken to Lovech. Today, the museum houses an ethnographic exhibition illustrating the distinctive traditional way of life of generations of Chiflik residents.
The landscape is exceptionally picturesque and has an alpine character. The area is home to a number of natural landmarks, including part of Central Balkan National Park; Kozya Stena, famous for the edelweiss that grows there; the Kashka and Markova Livada mountain saddles; the rock formations known as "Ushite" ("The Ears"), "Sadranata Stena" ("The Torn Wall") and "Rogachevi Kamani"; as well as the erosion formations along the Kamacharska River.
